Hi, and welcome to Hanningfield Smokehouse. We are situated deep in the heart of the Essex Countryside on the edge of the picturesque Hanningfield Reservoir.

We are very passionate not only about how we lovingly smoke our food but also, very importantly, is the quality and provenance of the raw products we purchase. We only ever try to use the best ethically produced ingredients we can find, locally produced wherever possible. We also believe it’s vital to have a good relationship with suppliers, to understand how the food is produced. We always visit suppliers to see with our own eyes before we purchase.

All our ingredients are carefully prepared and brined or dry cured before being slowly and gently cold and/or hot cold smoked over oak, beech or alder wood. Our aim is to enhance the flavour of the ingredients and add a subtle smokiness and not to overpower the wonderful ingredients.

You’ll find our award winning whole smoked trout and trout pate as well as a whole range of other products in our on-line shop. You can also find our products in many farm shops and deli’s. We also regularly attend farmer’s markets and food shows across the county.

Personal callers are also very welcome to visit us here at the smokehouse on Great Prestons Farm, Great Prestons Lane, Stock, CM4 9RN. We are open Monday to Friday 10am – 4pm.

We offer free local delivery Monday to Friday in Basildon, Billericay, Brentwood, Chelmsford, Southend or Wickford area.

If you would like to have a look around the smokehouse and taste some delicious samples we hold Open Days, at the smokehouse on the first Saturday in the month from 10am – 4pm.

We also offer free visits to the Smokehouse for Groups, Clubs and Associations on selected Saturdays and weekday afternoons, please contact us for more details.
